PIRIE WINS EASILY IN FOREST

D. A. G. Pirie, the only entrant who was untroubled at the difficult number three control flag, won the senior orienteering race held in conjunction with a family day in the Woodhill State forest yesterday in the excellent time of lh 23m 15s.

Paired with Pirie the outstanding junior cross country runner P. Wilson shared the same time.

W. Switzer, the New Zealand orienteering representative who showed considerable ability in Australia on, the recent tour, was a comfortable second in 2h 12m 20s, with D. Townsend, another national representative, third in 2h 27m 30s.

The New Zealand senior women's champion, Miss Anne Garrett, won the women's event in 2h 9m 30s.

After instruction by senior Federation officials newcomers were sent over a short novice course.
